Family Artmaking at Nassau County Museum of Art
- see all dates
The Nassau County Museum of Art hosts three days of artmaking for families inspired by the art on view in the Museum’s exhibition over the April school break. Deco at 100. A different project will be offered each day encouraging creative exploration by children and their adult companions.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, April 15, 16, 17. Two, timed sessions per day: Session 1: 11 am-12:30pm and Session 2: 1-2:30pm.
- Tuesday, April 15: Whimsical Weathervanes: In this art project, you’ll explore Art Deco style by designing and creating your own weathervane. Using geometric shapes and bold colors, you’ll sketch, cut, and assemble your piece, learning about Art Deco’s unique style while making functional, decorative art.
- Wednesday, April 16: Deco Dazzle: In this project, you’ll dive into the glamorous world of Art Deco jewelry. Using geometric shapes, bold lines, and vibrant colors, you’ll design and create your own statement piece with beads, string, and gems, bringing the sleek, sophisticated style of Art Deco into wearable art.
- Thursday, April 17: Clay & Color: In this project, you’ll explore the vibrant pottery of Clarice Cliff, known for her bold colors and geometric patterns. Using inspiration from her signature designs, you’ll create your own pottery piece, incorporating striking shapes and bright, lively colors. Through this hands-on process, you’ll learn to transform simple clay into a work of Art Deco-inspired art.
