1. Rip your paper into long strips (we tore magazine pages into eighths).  You can use any kind of paper you want, but magazines work great because they are colorful and the paper is thin.  To cut the paper, we folded it then pulled the paper against the edge of a ruler for fast straight edges.  You could also use scissors.

2.  Fold a strip in half length-wise, then in half again so you have a long, thin, V shaped strip.  Take the ends and fold them in to the center fold.  This is your basic paper link.  Repeat on the other paper strips.

3.  Once all your paper is folded into links, you can start to chain them together.  Take two links, and slide each one through the loops made by each leg of another chain. Pull them into place to make a neat v-shape so they stay together when you give them a gentle tug.  For your first two links, it can be helpful to staple them in place.  Repeat this until you have a chain of your desired length.  Use another staple to end the chain, or staple it back to the first link to make a loop.

We ended up making over 5 feet of these chains over the course of a week.  We used it as wall hanging, but it can also make fun bracelets, necklaces, or even belts!
