Spring is one of the best times to looking for herps (reptiles and amphibians). Trek through the woods of Black Hill Regional Park to a vernal pool looking for tadpoles, frogs, and salamanders. Hikers might get to see some snakes, too.
Meet and park where Lake Ridge Drive divides around the median.
Dress for the weather. Register in advance.
