A Day of Community at the National Portrait Gallery
Activate and uplift! Teens and young adults are encouraged to find their voices. Art is activism and portraiture is powerful. Honor the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and his commitment to community action by joining the Portrait Gallery and its partners for A Day of Action.
Geared toward mobilizing teens and young adults but open to all, this event featuring local social justice partner organizations and community groups will empower visitors. Learn from change-makers who are doing the work and be inspired by the activists highlighted in the Portrait Gallery’s exhibitions “The Struggle for Justice;” “Brilliant Exiles: American Women in Paris, 1900–1939;” “Felix Gonzalez-Torres: Always to Return” and “James Baldwin and the Voices of Queer Resistance.”
Free – Registration Encouraged.
