Ruth's Spring Cleaning
Sat Apr 13, 2019
11:00am ET
Age: All ages
Price: Free; however a $2 per person donation is suggested.
Banish dust and dirt the colonial way at “Ruth’s Spring Cleaning” at Pottsgrove Manor. Guests discover how people in the 18th century cleaned their home. Visitors can clean the reproduction kitchen, sweep cobwebs, and wipe the hearth.
Guests learn how to polish tables, how wood ash was used as a cleaning agent and how to get out spots and stains from clothing. In addition, visitors see how soap was made and uncover the surprising ingredients used to make it. Living history interpreters invite all ages to take part in the hands-on history.
