Ghosts of Christmas Past Walking Tour
- see all dates
Also on December 15, 2019.
Did you know that there is a long-standing tradition of telling ghost stories at Christmas? It's true! On this 2-hour walking tour presented by Boroughs of the Dead, you'll find out why we should tell ghost stories at Christmas, and hear some favorite true ghost stories in Greenwich Village. Plus, you'll discover how all of this is connected to New York City!
Find out why the Victorians loved to tell ghost stories at Christmastime. Learn where Charles Dickens read A Christmas Carol in NYC in 1867. Uncover the ways Washington Irving, John Pintard (a founder of the New-York Historical Society) and Clement Clarke Moore, all members of New York City’s 19th century “Knickerbocker” elite, changed the way we envision Christmas.
Tours run rain or shine, so dress warmly! Book in advance.
Saturdays at 3pm & 5pm
Sundays at 5pm
