Restart Stages: The Green at Lincoln Center
Josie Robertson Plaza blossoms into Lincoln Center's outdoor campus as part of LC's Restart Stages initiative. MacArthur Genius grantee Mimi Lien has transformed approximately 14,000 square feet of open, concrete expanse into an environment that invites New Yorkers to relax and enjoy the open space.
The lawn is made of recyclable, biobased SYNLawn material.
A land blessing ceremony—conducted by Chief Dwaine Perry of the Ramapough Lunaape and facilitated by the Redhawk Native American Arts Council—opens the evening’s free performances, followed by singer/songwriter Martha Redbone .
Free tickets to opening day and all upcoming May events are available through the TodayTix Lottery, which opens for entries two weeks before each performance and closes one week prior to the performance at 12:59 p.m. EDT. Attendees who secure tickets are required to fill out a health survey, among other safety protocols.
As spring turns to summer, books will be available for borrowing provided by the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, a small snack bar is planned for the northeast corner, and pop-up performances of all kinds will sprout up—including music, dance, and a series of family performances and workshops.
Masks and social distancing are required.
