Morningside Lights at Columbia University
- see all dates
Morningside Lights returns for its 14th year, illuminating the night in a procession of awe-inspiring handmade lanterns floating through Morningside Park to Columbia's campus.
This year’s Morningside Lights, TIMEFRAME 1965, honors an important milestone—the vibrant 60-year history of Columbia’s School of the Arts—and explores the extraordinary artistic energy of that time, out of which a generation of influential artists, filmmakers, performers, scholars, and writers emerged.
The free neighborhood tradition includes a week of community arts workshops prior to the procession to create the lanterns.
Daily Lantern-Building Workshops: Saturday, September 13-Friday, September 19
Miller Theatre at Columbia University (116th St. and Broadway)
