Did you know that in 18th century New York most women and girls from all backgrounds, including those enslaved, had their clothes handmade by a tradesperson called a Mantuamaker? Watch clothing historian and Mantuamaker Brooke Wellborn as she pieces, sews, and fits a reimagined 18th dress for this year’s Pinkster Stroll over the course of two days, from beginning to end.

Learn about the clothing enslaved women were wearing in the 1700s, and how clothing played a role in agency in the past and present.
