Visitors of all ages are invited to create a personalized card inspired by Victorian valentines, using construction paper, paper lace, vintage-style stickers, and other scrapbooking materials.

The concept of a love-related holiday or festival like Valentine’s Day is centuries old, but the Stickley girls’ preparations would have been similar to Valentine celebrations that emerged in the Victorian era—celebrations which remain remarkably familiar in our time. More than 100 years later, cupids, valentines, hearts, roses, even candy hearts still represent Valentine’s Day, and among the museum’s beautiful collections, we’ll also spotlight pottery, textiles, and metals in Stickley’s Craftsman style that feature the familiar colors and symbols of the season.
