A Day at Manatee Lagoon
- see all dates
View manatees up close during manatee season at this 16,000-square-foot center that features engaging, hands-on exhibits for visitors to learn about these threatened and unique creatures.
There is an observation deck to view manatee herds basking in the warm water. The center is open daily from 9am-4pm in season, with a daily tour at 2pm. Parking is free.
Florida manatee season runs from November 15 to March 31. From April 1 to November 14, the center (and gift shop) is open all days except Monday.
There is no guarantee you will spot a wild manatee at Manatee Lagoon but you could see dozens of manatees at one time congregating within plain view of the observation deck. In season, the manatees gather to warm themselves in the water from the power plant adjacent to the education center, so chances are quite high of spotting several during your visit.
