Community Safari Days at the Zoo (Strike Special)
- see all dates
During the LAUSD teacher strike, the LA Zoo is offering full-day Community Safari Days for K-5 students. Supervised by the Zoo’s specially trained adult staff, students can spend the day engaged in fun activities and crafts while learning about their favorite animals.
Hours are 9am to 4pm; free extended care is available starting at 8am and ending at 5pm. Space is extremely limited and online advance registration is required. Registration is $50 per student per day.
Details on what students should pack for the day can be found on the site. Community Safari Days take place rain or shine. Children should dress accordingly if rain is in the forecast.
Reservations are available for Monday, January 14 through Friday, January 18. The program will conclude earlier if the strike ends before then. Dates may be added if the strike continues past January 18. At the time the strike ends, any fees paid for future dates will be refunded. No refunds are permitted for other individual cancellations.
Note: The Zoo is also offering free admission to LAUSD students M-F during the strike, (proof of enrollment required) with $5 admission for caregivers. See site for details.
