George Takei visits The Japanese American National Museum for a brief conversation about the graphic novel They Called Us Enemy. The book is Takei’s firsthand account of years behind barbed wire at an American concentration camp during World War II. 

The book, co-written by Justin Eisinger and Steven Scott and illustrated by Harmony Becker, addresses the terrors of growing up under legalized racism, his mother’s hard choices, his father’s faith in democracy, and the way those experiences planted the seeds for his astonishing future. Books are available at the JANM Store in mid-July. George Takei signs a maximum of three items per person, flat items only.
