Nature Detectives & Story Makers for Families at Sands Point Preserve
Step into the beauty of Sands Point Preserve and let nature spark your imagination at this winter writing adventure, where young authors explore the Preserve like detectives – uncovering nature clues left in the ice, snow, and winter woods – and transform their discoveries into curious, magical tales.
Instructors from the Story Round and the Preserve’s Outdoor Nature Exploration program help students connect with the natural world and use it as inspiration to:
• Write original stories inspired by what they discover
• Create fantasy maps and imaginary worlds
• Invent magical creatures and craft poems
Note: This program begins with an outdoor nature walk, weather permitting. Students should dress for the outdoors, including boots. There will be snack and lunch breaks, students should bring one allergen-free snack and lunch.
