During Kwanzaa, many African-American families get together to give thanks and enjoy the blessings of family. Join the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority at the Long Island Children's Museum to learn about the rich traditions and meaning behind Kwanzaa while you create festive symbols of this holiday.
Learn about a mkeka, the traditional woven straw mat used on the table during Kwanzaa and an ear of corn, which is placed on the mkeka for each child in the house.
Be sure to check out their Snowflake Sock Skating rink and the Saltwater Stories: We Need the Sea & the Sea Needs Me permanent exhibit.while you're visiting!
