A reenactment of Mary and Joseph's search for a room at the inn is presented by the Olvera Street merchants, their families, and friends. Visitors are encouraged to join the nightly candlelight processions and Christmas carol singing in Spanish and English.
Free sweet bread and champurrado are given to all in attendance.
At 6:30pm, a piñata is filled with candies every night for the children (ages 3 - 12) to break and enjoy.
The nightly procession begins and ends at the Avila Adobe, the oldest house in Los Angeles. Procession activities start at 7:15pm.
Free sweet bread and champurrado is given to all after procession
If you're thinking of making an evening of it, an early dinner is the way to go, since most restaurants on Olvera Street close at 7pm. On the up side, this is a great place to buy stocking stuffers!
