It's All About Friday: This Week's Picks September 15-19
The point of the picks is to focus on one good thing. It’s calendar de-cluttering. For those who get overwhelmed by too much choice, it is helpful to be pointed toward just one. But sometimes even us professional pickers can’t choose one thing over others; and sometimes there is so much going on, it is worth doing your own sorting to find what you and your family would select. We can choose for you, but we might not choose what you would. This week it's a particularly good idea to check out Mommy Poppins' Event Calendar and take a closer look at Friday, which is jam packed with options. I spotted two things so cool I couldn’t decide (so I'm picking both), but there’s even more to consider. As summer winds down, there tends to be less to do, but not this week...
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
1. Lollipop Dream Tea Party - Monday
In Sherman Oaks, little ones can indulge in an evening tea. Dress up, practice party manners, and enjoy a little face painting.
2. Kids Club Printmaking - Tuesday
The Glendale Galleria collaborates with the Zimmer Children’s Museum for weekly activities. This week there are three print making tables planned with sponges, stamps, and pencils.
3. Aquarium of the Pacific Homeschool Days - Wednesday
The Aquarium in Long Beach, while still open to the public, is not having school tours this Wednesday. Home Schoolers are able to talk to Marine Biology educators and investigate informational stations throughout the aquarium.
4. Mike Lupica Book Signing - Thursday
Newport Beach Middle Schoolers should head to the library where Mike Lupica is signing copies of his new book, Fantasy League, about a bench-warming tween whose team picks turn him into a national celebrity.
5. Pasadena Greek Fest and Talk Like a Pirate Day - Friday
Celebrate Hellenic culture at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia. The Greek stuff is truly great, but regardless Santa Anita is an Art Deco masterpiece that everybody should visit at least once. And there is no need to arrive hungry! While for some of us, talking like a pirate is its own reward, at participating Krispy Kremes this Friday those who talk like pirates receive the bounty of a free donut, and those who dress like pirates get a treasure chest - or in the 21st century, a cardboard box - of a dozen.
