Boston's Official Holiday Tree Arrival
Tue Nov 18, 2025
11:00am ET
Age: All ages
Price: Free
The 54th annual gift of an evergreen Christmas tree from Nova Scotia is arriving by police escort at Boston Common on Tuesday, November 18.
For 54 years, a holiday tree has been donated to the city of Boston, marking 107 years of friendship with Nova Scotia. This commemorates the assistance provided by the people of Boston to Halifax, Nova Scotia, after a catastrophic munitions explosion in 1917. The inaugural tree for Boston was donated in 1971 by Joseph Slauenwhite from Lunenburg County.
The historic Tree for Boston will come from Mattie Settlement, Antigonish County this year. The 13.7-metre (45-foot) white spruce is being donated by landowners Hugh and Liz Ryan.
